PEEK Seals & Machined Components

International Seal supplies PEEK seals and precision-machined components for industrial applications requiring high mechanical strength, dimensional stability, wear resistance and performance at elevated temperatures. Our range includes PEEK sealing rings, back-up rings, bushes, bearings, wear rings, valve seats, washers, spacers and custom-engineered parts manufactured to customer drawings, samples or existing specifications.

PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic offering excellent strength, rigidity and resistance to deformation under load. It is commonly selected for demanding industrial sealing and mechanical applications where conventional engineering plastics or PTFE materials may not provide sufficient structural performance.

International Seal supplies PEEK components to distributors, OEMs and industrial customers throughout the UK and internationally, supporting prototype requirements, replacement components and repeat production volumes.

PEEK Specifications

Beige PEEK engineering plastic sealing ring

PEEK provides a combination of mechanical strength, dimensional stability and thermal resistance, making it suitable for demanding sealing and precision engineering applications.

Actual performance depends on the PEEK grade, component geometry, mechanical loading, operating temperature and chemical exposure.

PEEK Seals & Components Available

International Seal supplies PEEK sealing and engineering components for industrial applications requiring mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy and resistance to deformation under load. Components can be manufactured to customer drawings, existing specifications or physical samples, supporting both replacement requirements and repeat production.

PEEK Sealing Rings

PEEK sealing rings are used in engineered sealing arrangements where high strength, dimensional stability and resistance to mechanical deformation are required. Components can be manufactured in different profiles and dimensions to suit specific gland and equipment requirements.

PEEK Back-Up Rings

PEEK back-up rings provide mechanical support to elastomeric seals, helping reduce the risk of extrusion in demanding pressure sealing applications. The material’s rigidity and compressive strength make suitable PEEK grades useful where conventional PTFE back-up rings may experience excessive deformation.

PEEK Bushes & Bearings

PEEK bushes and bearing components provide high strength and dimensional stability for suitable mechanical and sliding applications. Where reduced friction and improved wear performance are required, specialist bearing-grade PEEK compounds may be considered.

PEEK Wear Rings

PEEK wear rings are used in engineered assemblies requiring resistance to wear, mechanical loading and dimensional deformation. Components can be manufactured to required diameters, thicknesses and profiles to accommodate industrial equipment.

PEEK Valve Seats & Components

PEEK valve seats and machined valve components are used in applications where mechanical strength, temperature resistance and dimensional accuracy are important. Suitable designs can be manufactured for industrial valve assemblies and specialist fluid handling equipment.

Custom-Machined PEEK Parts

International Seal supports custom PEEK parts manufactured to customer drawings or samples, including sleeves, spacers, washers, guides, insulating components and specialist machined profiles. Requirements can be reviewed for prototypes, replacement components and repeat OEM production.

Custom-Machined PEEK Components

International Seal supports the supply of custom-machined PEEK parts for industrial sealing, precision engineering and mechanical applications. Components can be manufactured to customer drawings, existing part numbers, dimensional specifications or physical samples, with material selection and manufacturing requirements reviewed against the application.

Machined components may include:

When specifying PEEK components, important considerations include dimensional tolerances, surface finish, operating temperature, mechanical loading, mating materials and chemical exposure. PEEK offers greater rigidity than PTFE, making it suitable for applications requiring dimensional accuracy and structural performance. However, its stiffness must also be considered when designing sealing components, particularly where flexibility or conformability is required.

For repeat requirements, customers can provide annual usage forecasts or scheduled quantities to support production planning and supply arrangements.

Why Choose PEEK for Seals & Components?

PEEK is commonly selected where high mechanical strength, dimensional stability and elevated-temperature performance are required. Compared with conventional PTFE materials, PEEK generally provides significantly greater rigidity and resistance to deformation under sustained loading. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for back-up rings, valve seats, bushes, bearing components and precision-machined parts exposed to demanding mechanical conditions.

PEEK also offers good resistance to many industrial chemicals and maintains useful mechanical performance at elevated temperatures. However, PEEK does not provide the same extremely low friction or broad chemical resistance as virgin PTFE in every environment, and its higher rigidity may make it unsuitable for certain sealing designs.

International Seal can assist with reviewing component requirements and material specifications to identify an appropriate sealing or engineering solution. For detailed mechanical properties, thermal characteristics and material grades, refer to our PEEK Material & Properties Guide.

PEEK vs PTFE Components

PEEK and PTFE are both high-performance engineering polymers, but they are selected for different mechanical and sealing requirements. Virgin PTFE Components are commonly preferred where extremely low friction, broad chemical resistance and electrical insulation are priorities.

Bronze-Filled PTFE Components can offer improved load-bearing and sliding performance compared with virgin PTFE for suitable bearing and wear applications.

Glass-Filled PTFE Components provide improved creep resistance and wear characteristics for selected sealing and mechanical applications.

Carbon-Filled PTFE Components may provide alternative wear and sliding characteristics for demanding sealing environments.

Graphite-Filled PTFE Components can provide beneficial low-friction characteristics for suitable bushes, bearings and sliding components.

PEEK is generally preferred where higher structural strength, rigidity and dimensional stability are required. The most suitable material depends on the operating media, temperature, pressure, movement and component design.
