ILC Seals

ILC, or In Line Cleaning, is a hygienic union system designed for process applications requiring a secure, crevice-free connection with controlled seal compression. The ILC seal sits between the mating components of the union and creates the sealing interface when the connection is assembled and tightened.

International Seal supplies ILC seals and hygienic gaskets for process pipework used throughout the food, beverage and dairy industries. Our ILC sealing range is available in standard sizes from ½” to 4″, with EPDM and solid PTFE options available to suit different process media, temperatures and cleaning requirements.

Materials

ILC seals are available in materials selected to suit hygienic processing, cleaning and chemical-resistance requirements.

Material Typical Applications
NBR Oils, fats and general-purpose applications
EPDM Water, hot water, steam and hygienic processing
FKM Oils, chemicals and elevated temperatures
Silicone Temperature extremes and hygienic applications

The correct seal material should always be selected against the process media, operating temperature, pressure and cleaning regime. For further guidance, see our Chemical Compatibility Guide and Elastomer Temperature Range Guide.

Typical Applications

ILC seals are commonly used in hygienic process systems where connections must combine good cleanability with the ability to withstand higher operating pressures. The crevice-free union design and controlled compression of the seal make ILC connections particularly suited to process equipment incorporating Clean-in-Place procedures.

Material selection should consider the product media, cleaning chemicals, operating temperature, pressure and any food-contact requirements.
