Hygienic Seal Materials
All hygienic seal materials should be matched to the application, process media, temperature range, cleaning regime and required documentation. FDA-compliant materials and supporting documentation are available on selected grades, subject to material type, supplier documentation and application requirements.
EPDM
Blue EPDM is one of the most widely used materials in hygienic sealing applications. It is commonly selected for food, beverage and dairy process environments where resistance to water, steam, cleaning agents and CIP chemicals is required.
Metal Detectable EPDM
Metal detectable EPDM seals are designed to support contamination control in food and beverage processing environments. Detection performance varies by material grade, product being processed, contaminant size, line conditions and detection equipment specification.
FKM / Viton
FKM (Viton) offers resistance to a wide range of chemicals, aggressive cleaning agents and elevated process temperatures. It is often specified where EPDM may not provide suitable chemical or temperature resistance.
Silicone
Silicone provides flexibility across a wide temperature range and is commonly specified in food, dairy and pharmaceutical applications where a soft, compliant seal is required. Selected FDA-compliant and USP Class VI grades may be available on request.
FFKM & PTFE
FFKM and PTFE seals may be available for applications requiring very high chemical resistance or purity. Please contact us with your specific application details.
NBR (Nitrile)
NBR is available for industrial and general-purpose sealing applications. It is not typically recommended for food-grade hygienic process lines but may be suitable for certain non-food industrial environments where oil resistance is required.
